Confederate Soldiers and sailors are American Soldiers and Sailors. They fought for and died for American causes, on American land and seas, and are buried in American soil and waters. Although the politics of 1860's America are no longer argued in the Chambers of our Nation's Capitol, the American principles of Liberty, inalienable Rights, and defense of home that our Confederate Soldiers and Sailors fought for, still endure today. Our brave Men and Women of the Confederate States of America here in Volusia County and all across the Southern States did not ask for or seek war, and only did their duty to their God, Family, and Nation as they felt compelled to do by their own virtues. Those Virtues are the same virtues that exist today in all Patriotic American families today regardless of individual politics. It is those Virtues to which the Confederate Cause and the SCV Charge that we The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Camp 1360, The St. Johns Rangers Pledge to uphold and honor today and every day.
